Image-only emails look beautiful. You have full control over your branding and messaging and frankly, they are easier to design. The drawbacks, however, are too serious to ignore:
- Spam filters: If you have one big image and little to no text, spam filters think you are trying to pull one over on them and they don’t like that.
- Email program defaults to images turn off: As a safety precaution, many email programs, like Outlook, Hotmail, Yahoo Mail and Gmail, will have images turned off. This means that when someone gets your email all they see is empty space until they enable images.
- Larger complaint rates and lower open rates: The result is often larger complaint rate and lower open rate.
You can have the best of both words by incorporating text and images. Your recipients would get something like this:
